Boost Profits This Mother’s Day

As a key trading day, we know that spend isn’t compromised on this special occasion, with consumers looking to treat and celebrate their loved ones. It’s a valuable opportunity for operators to create that wow factor for customers, that not only drives profits for the day itself, but encourages repeat visits.

With 33%* of UK consumers relying on Google to find new restaurants, creating memorable experiences to generate positive reviews and recommendations, is crucial.

Delicious desserts

A diverse range of desserts, tailored to all is a great way to drive spend. We know that if one person orders a dessert, the rest of the table are likely to follow, so make sure there are appealing options for all the family.

Try including a fresh berry vegan jelly pudding, a Bakewell trifle, Pink prosecco poached rhubarb trifle and an Ambrosia Devon Custard buttercream cake topped with mini eggs or chocolates. Our cake recipe can also be made into cupcakes, perfect for younger diners and as an up-sell on morning coffee trade.

Products that meet multiple dietary requirements and preferences create a helping hand in the kitchen, reducing the need to buy-in multiple products. Our Vegan Society approved McDougalls Vegan Jelly for can be enjoyed on its own, topped or set with fruit. It can also be incorporated into a range of desserts above or used with other ingredients, such as Angel Delight.

Glorious gravy ideas

In place of the traditional roast, why not try serving a ‘Sunday Roast Platter’, with everything for the perfect roast piled together on a big board for guests to serve themselves from. It’s great for giving everyone a choice of what they want on their plates. Research shows that 51%* of consumers would be prepared to pay extra for bottomless gravy, so consider enhancing the offer with a gravy jug per person or packaging the roast with a ‘bottomless gravy’ offer.

Continuing with that twist on the original, try serving Tear and share roast shoulder of lamb, rosemary infused Bisto gravy, seasonal vegetable and roast trimming, or a vegetarian option of Spring vegetable vol-au-vent with Bisto Southern Style Gravy.

Bisto’s Original, Reduced Salt and Vegetable Gravy Granules are also certified by the Vegan Society, meaning chefs only need to rely on one gravy brand in the kitchen.

Creating memorable experiences

Whilst it’s the food that’s the star of the show, it’s also about creating that all-important experience to remember. Give customers a reason to pick your venue to visit on this special occasion by putting on exciting, but simple to deliver events, activities, and memorable extras.

Here’s a few ideas to help you create that unforgettable experience.  More can be found in our Easter & Mother’s Day Guide.

Our ideas to create that unforgettable experience include:

  • Creating a mothers’ inspired playlist
  • Kid’s activities to keep children entertained, such as a craft corner with self-led activities or offer an at-table activity such as cookies to decorate
  • Gift vouchers, hampers and competitions
  • Live music and entertainment
  • Spin the wheel discount – by giving customers the chance win prizes such as 10% off the bill, a free dessert or a free treat on their next visit, which can help bring customers back for Easter weekend
